Bridal Skincare 101
Here’s the Bridal Skincare 101…
You’re entering your bridal era, the vision for the day is developing and you’re looking at hair and makeup inspo. It’s VERY exciting!
But, here’s the truth. Your makeup is not going to sit well, or look as flawless, if you don’t start working on your skin now (or at least a good 6 months before the big day). If you’re a Grace Olivia Bride, I will be on hand for any skincare questions and we will have a good chat at your trial on a pre-wedding pamper plan. But for now, here are some tips to get your started.

Cleanse, cleanse, and CLEANSE.
Cleansing is KEY to creating clearer, more hydrated, and healthier-looking skin. I am guilty for skipping the odd night-time cleanse because I have a baby and I just want to go to sleep, BUT, I can tell in the morning and always regret it!
So, if you don’t already, start removing all makeup, dirt, and grime before bed by using an effective cleanser. Balms are my go-to, but if you’re more oily, you may prefer a lighter texture. Here are some favourites below:
Don’t leave it too late, it’s time to exfoliate!
It’s probably obvious that makeup applies better to smooth textured skin. But, we’re humans, not airbrushed Pinterest models (wink wink), and being realistic with your skin goals is so important. Please don’t get yourself down if you’re prone to breakouts, or you have conditions such as rosacea, or eczema, I can work wonders with my makeup wand; you, and the skin you’re in are beautiful!
What I do find that helps is an exfoliating toner (if you have any skin conditions or severe acne please speak to a dermatologist before using). I would recommend using this in the evening and remember your SPF the next day as anything with exfoliating acids can make your skin sun sensitive. Feel free to start slow and build up if you have reactive skin. Here are some of my tried and tested favourites:
Hydrate and Thrive.
It’s time to up the water intake and if you haven’t heard of the skincare buzzword Hyaluronic acid, it’s time to get to know it.
Makeup lasts longer on hydrated skin, it sits better and your complexion will look brighter, plumper, and MUCH better in photos! I get my hydration from serums and creams, others prefer oils, or water-based gel creams if you’re oily.
Treat Yo’self!
I realise weddings are VERY expensive and it feels like the money spending is endless (I’ve been there!). But, if looking after your skin, and feeling pampered to perfection before becoming a bride is important to you, then I’d recommend to start seeing a facialist now.
Hydrafacials are proven to boost skin water content and penetrate the skin deeper than any skincare product bought ‘over the counter’ can. You probably will need to get into a facial routine though, as just having the one won’t give you optimum results.
Get in touch with Rachel at Romsey Medical and ask for a consultation, she is an expert and will tell you exactly what your skin needs. Be sure to mention I sent you!
If you want to try something a bit more economical, facial massage at home is a brilliant way to promote lymphatic drainage, de-puff, and relax. It can also help ‘push’ your products into your skin. I like to use a Gua Sha and love my Odacité one, they have a great page on their website about how to use it as well.
